It's the End of an Era, Misfits. ❤️

Hey Misfits,

Well, I have some pretty big news. I've rewritten this blog post about a dozen times, trying to find the right words, and I've finally accepted that there probably isn't a perfect way to say it. So I'm just going to say it.

Malicious Women Candle Co. is officially closing. Our last day will be December 31, 2026, or sooner if we sell out of inventory.

I know. It's a lot. Trust me, I've had some time to process it myself.

First, I want you to know that I'm doing well. This isn't a decision I made overnight, and it's certainly not one I made lightly. But after nearly a decade of building, growing, fighting, adapting, and occasionally losing my mind, I've decided it's time to move on.

When I started making candles in 2017, I was going through a particularly painful chapter of my life. I needed something to do with all that grief and anger, and candle making became my outlet. My first labels weren't exactly what you'd find at your local Hallmark store, but they made me laugh. And then they made other people laugh. Before I knew it, SHIT SHOW had become an actual product, and I had somehow stumbled into a business.

What happened next still blows my mind. That kitchen-counter hobby grew into a multimillion-dollar company with employees, national media coverage, thousands of retail partners, and customers around the world. Along the way, we raised money for important causes, helped provide thousands of meals, and built a community of people who weren't afraid to speak their minds. I never set out to create all of that, but I'm incredibly proud that we did.

Unfortunately, the business world of 2026 looks nothing like it did when I started. Manufacturing costs have skyrocketed, consumer spending has shifted, and keeping a small business profitable requires more resources and sacrifice than ever. I've spent the last several years making difficult decisions, restructuring operations, and doing everything I could to adapt without raising my prices.

Earlier this year, I also experienced a significant health event. I'm keeping the medical details to myself, but it became clear that the stress of running this business was affecting my health. My doctors encouraged me to make some changes, and for once in my life, I actually listened. Shocking, I know.

That experience made me take a serious look at what I wanted the next chapter of my life to look like. I've spent nearly ten years giving this company everything I have, and while I wouldn't trade those years for anything, I'm ready to give some of that time and attention back to myself and the people I love.

This is a choice I'm making because I can, and because it's the right one for me.

I've also had genuine opportunities to sell Malicious Women Candle Co. After giving those offers considerable thought, I've decided to decline them. This company has always been deeply personal to me. Its foundation is tied to the people I've loved and lost, especially my dear friend Laura, whose memory will always be part of its story. Every collection, campaign, and cause we've championed has a history behind it. I know another company could continue making candles under our name, but I don't want to hand over something so personal and hope it remains true to what we created. Besides all three offers came from entitled white men who sat in my shop and mansplained business to me.

So I've decided to close the business myself, on my own terms, with the same love, humor, and occasional middle finger that got us here in the first place and protect the community, brand, and the legacy of Malicious Women Candle Co.

While I'm certainly going to miss parts of this life, I'm leaving with an overwhelming sense of PRIDE, not defeat.

TO THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE ❤️

There is absolutely no way I could have done this alone.

To my employees, past and present, thank you for showing up, working hard, tolerating my wild ideas, and helping turn those ideas into actual products. You are a huge part of this company's success, and I will always be grateful. Former employees, please reach out for an invitation to our final Christmas party. We're going to make this one legendary!

To our wholesale partners, thank you for believing in a little candle company that wasn't afraid to put profanity on the shelves of respectable establishments. If you'd like to place one last holiday order, please do so before November 15th. After that date, we'll be closing wholesale ordering so we can focus on fulfilling our remaining retail orders.

To my husband, thank you for nearly ten years of listening to me talk about wax, fragrance, employees, shipping, marketing, and whatever fresh hell the internet decided to deliver that day. You've supported every ridiculous idea I've had, and I love you for it.

And to my children, Joe Joe, Kacie, and James, thank you for the years you spent helping me build this business. We shared victories, frustrations, long days, and plenty of growing pains. Those memories mean more to me than you'll ever know. But I'm also looking forward to being your mom without being your boss. I want to bake Christmas cookies, enjoy the holidays, and stop referring to December as "the end of Q4." Seriously. I am so excited to have Christmas back.

And finally, to YOU, my incredible community of Misfits.

You've been so much more than customers. You've supported our causes, defended our right to say outrageous things, celebrated our successes, and stuck around through the difficult times. Some of you have been here since the very beginning, and some of you just found us last week. Every order, message, review, and shared laugh helped build something I never imagined possible.

What began as a way for me to navigate my own grief became something that brought laughter, comfort, and connection to people I may never even meet. That's a pretty incredible thing to have accomplished with a jar of wax and a bad attitude.

Thank you for making it possible.

NOW, ABOUT THOSE CANDLES... 🕯️

We're not quietly slipping out the back door. We're going to spend these final weeks celebrating everything we've built together, and I hope you'll help us give Malicious Women the farewell she deserves.

Here's what you need to know about our final sale:

Starting Today: ALL CANDLES WILL BE $20!

We've deliberately reduced production for the holiday season because we knew this day was coming. That means our remaining inventory is limited, and when a fragrance sells out, it's gone for good. If your favorite scent no longer appears as an option on our website, we've officially sold out.

THERE WILL NOT BE A BLACK FRIDAY SALE THIS YEAR.

I know that's disappointing, but I want to be transparent about why. My priority is making sure I can continue paying my employees and meeting our obligations through the end of the year. Deep holiday discounts and absorbing shipping costs simply aren't financially possible. I hope you'll understand.

BUT WE ARE ADDING SURPRISES TO ORDERS OVER $100!

And I'm not talking about a handful of stickers or some random promotional junk. We've got some genuinely fantastic goodies to share, and I think you're going to love them. Consider it a little extra thank-you from me.

I'll also be sending regular emails with inventory updates, announcements, and reminders as products sell out. If there's a candle you absolutely cannot live without, please don't wait until December to order it. I won't be making more.

ONE LAST THING...

I know this announcement might make some of you sad, and I understand. I've had my emotional moments, too. But I really hope you'll celebrate this decision with me because I am at peace with this. I’m ready to just be a wife and a mom again and hopefully being a grandma one day.

I started this company during one of the most difficult periods of my life, never imagining where it would take me. Nearly ten years later, I get to walk away having accomplished more than I ever dreamed possible, with a lifetime of memories and absolutely no regrets about the profanity or my opinions.

I'm not retiring but I am taking some time off. I'm certainly not done doing epic shit. I have no idea what kind of trouble I'll get myself into next, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

For now, I'm going to enjoy these last few months with all of you, celebrate the incredible people who made Malicious Women what it is, and close this chapter knowing we created something truly special.

Thank you for nearly ten years of laughter, loyalty, inappropriate candles, and pure maliciousness.

I love you guys.

Now, please buy some candles. I still have a lease and employees to pay. 😂

Stay Malicious Forever,

Lacie Founder, Owner, Unemployed

Heavens! I don’t know what I will do without your candles, your honesty, your spunk. You make a wonderful product, but I most enjoyed your take no prisoners honesty and honest opinions. A rarity in the business world. Best of luck wherever you land. Regarding selling to someone else, I appreciate your decision not to sell, the company would not be the same without you. I would have to take my business elsewhere anyway. Will have to come in and stick a few more pins 😁 and stock up before you close.

I’m certain this was a difficult decision but I’m so happy you made it on your terms! I just did my Christmas shopping for all the women in my life and they are the perfect gifts ❤️ Best wishes to you, your family and all your employees! I’ll cross my fingers for a grandbaby in your near future. My one and only just turned two on Sunday! She brings us so much joy!

Wow. I’ve never bought candles while weeping before. This should be interesting. But, and with all sincerity, your precious life is more important than my candles. (Actually, I might be mourning the FAFO cleaner even more right now.) Point is, thank you for everything, Lacie: for the product/brand you created, for the community you built, and all the maliciousness. Goddess bless, and I mean ithat sincerely.

This is sad for us, but I’m so happy for you! I’d rather you leave on your terms than sell out to someone who doesn’t get it. You’ve always been clear about who you are, and never more so than now. Take care of you. Take care of your family. We’ll miss you.

Well dang. I’ve loved these candles since my first order. There will never be another like them. But I’m glad that you are doing this on YOUR terms!! Wishing you every success!
